Rise of the Micro-Influencer

Influence marketing has been around for decades.

However, with the pandemic, we have seen the rise of micro-influencers who have seen engagement rates increase by an average of 130%, while Youtube channels are seeing an average growth spurt of 304% month on month. (Source: Talking Influence 05/2020)

Who is a Micro-Influencer anyway? A micro-influencer is someone who has between 1,000 to 100.000 followers. Micro-influencers focus on a specific niche or area and are generally regarded as an industry expert or topic specialist. Micro-influencers have stronger relationships than a typical influencer.

Brands are finding out that the larger the Influencer, the lower the engagement. The key to a micro-influencer's success is in their name.

They may be comparatively "micro" in reach, but they genuinely "influence" people's decision-making and have the highest levels of engagement.

Micro-influencers are also storytellers. They share stories to their followers on a regular and even on a daily basis. They conceptualize stories relating to their specialist niche that helo their fans sort out their problems.
